Congratulations to the varsity softball team for winning their 7th consecutive HAAL Championship. The mighty Trojans defeated their arch rival Arroyo Don's 6-4 by ending the game with a double play with the bases loaded. It went Niki to Karen to Erin for the win great job ladies.

The California Scholarship Federation is hosting a Spring Cleaning Clothing Drive throughout the rest of this month. To help out, bring in your old clothes and deposit them in the labelled boxes in your English class. All materials will be donated to the Salvation Army. All types of clothes are accepted, but please make sure they don't have holes or tears."

Letters informing students of their APUSH entrance exam results will be passed out in World History classes on Monday and Tuesday, May 14 and 15. Students should read the letters carefully for instructions as to their placement in US History for next year. The AP US History teachers are available to review exam results with students and to discuss placement in AP US History. The best way to contact one of the teachers is by email.

Seniors! Our very last formal is coming up soon on June 2nd. This year's theme is Tonight, We Are Young. Dance the night away alongside penguins, an albino alligator, and aquarium animals as this year's Senior Ball venue is the San Francisco Academy of Sciences. Exhibits will also be open! Pro Image pictures will be from 3-6 in the school cafeteria and the dance will follow from 8-12 at the Academy.   Bid sales continue at $62 single, $124 couple.  Every person needs a behavior contract filled out when purchasing their bids and assistant principal signature is mandatory.  All Seniors will also need to turn in a signed graduation contract which will be mailed out to your parents on Friday.  If you are not planning on going to Senior ball you will turn in your graduation contract when you pick up your cap and gown on June 5^th and 6^th.  Also, a note for girls, if you plan on taking off your heels to dance please be sure to bring an extra pair of shoes. The museum does not allow bare feet/socks on the dance floor. Shoes must be worn at all times.

Attention all Juniors, pro image will be on campus May 22^nd, 23^rd, May 29^th and 30^th to take sign ups for your Senior portraits.  There will be a table on the stage in the courtyard at lunch so come on by to check it out and sign up for your Senior portraits.

Are you interested in supporting Castro Valley High School athletics?  Well if you are you may now register for the third annual CVHS Run to play.  This event will be happening on June 9^th and begins at the high school.  All proceeds this year go to the individual sport of your choice so come on out and support your team.  Register now at onyourmarkevents.com or cvhsathleticboosters.com

Calling all senior artists. If you are interested in entering the senior art show please have your artwork in by May 18th to Mr. Lopez in room 202. All seniors are eligible whether or not they are enrolled in an art class. The 2-dimensional artwork must not exceed 18 x 24 inches and the 3-dimensional artwork must not exceed 3ft cubed. The opening reception will be held in the Student Union on May 31st an hour before Senior Awards Night. Please contact Mr. Lopez if you have any questions."

Students--spots are filling up fast for next year's trip to attend the Presidential Inauguration! Don't miss your chance to see the President take the oath of office, attend a formal inaugural ball, visit tons of museums and monuments, and attend seminars and workshops with hundreds of other high school students from all over the country so that you understand what it all means. Stop by room 108 to pick up the forms that you need in order to sign up. Remember, spots are filled on a first-come, first served basis!

Hey CVHS are you ready to give back to the community and get some yummy snacks along the way? Well, the good news is, our 3rd and final blood drive is on the way! If you are 16 or older, you're eligible to donate! Continuing today you can reserve your time spot for WEDNESDAY, MAY 30TH. Thanks to our amazing athletic department, we will now be holding the blood drive in the auxiliary gym. What this means is that we will be able to have more people donate! If you are 16, please come up to the stage at lunch and pick up a waiver. IF YOU ARE 16 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DONATE WITHOUT THIS. REPEAT IF YOU ARE 16 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DONATE WITHOUT THIS LETTER. If you are over 16 you will not need a waiver, but you can just sign up. So come on by the stage in the courtyard at lunch to sign up.

40% of the world population has no shoes. The Club Soles for Souls is hosting a barefoot mile event on May 20 in the afternoon where you bring a pair of new or gently worn shoes to donate and walk a mile around the track barefoot, in observance of those who go through life without a single pair of shoes. The shoes will be donated to kids in mexico through a missionary group. Come donate and walk a mile in their shoes.

Library Hours:

The library will be closing at 3:00 on Monday and Wednesday. We will close at 11:30 on Tuesday.

The library will be closed for lunch Monday and Tuesday.

The library will be closed before school Tuesday and Wednesday.

Starting May 8, the library will be closed off and on through May 18 for AP, CAHSEE or STAR testing. Please check the online computer lab calendar before sending students to the library

Forms will be processed and cleared onsite.
Mon-Fri: 7:30am - 11:00am, 11:00am - 12:00pm Closed for Lunch, 12:00pm - 3:30pm.
There will be no “drop-off” available.

If you are unable to submit your forms during the processing dates, please email Andy Popper, Athletic Director at apopper@cv.k12.ca.us.

1.       Fill out the Athletic Clearance form (click here to access form on website) completely and legibly. Make sure the parent dates and signs in all places requested. Both the parent and athlete must sign the rules section before returning this form (located on the bottom half of the page).

2.       If you have medical insurance, provide that information in “Waiver of Athletic Insurance”, and sign. If you do not have medical insurance coverage for your student, you must purchase Student Insurance. See the Main Office personnel for an application and instructions.

3.       California Education Code requires all athletes to have a physical each year they participate in a sport. Take the school’s physical form and have the doctor fill it out completely;  it must be signed and dated by the physician.

4.       Castro Valley High School has three physical nights (Spring sports physical night is TBD @ 5 pm. in Aux Gym) where your student can get an extensive physical on our campus for a fee of $25.00 per physical. This physical includes a complete orthopedic scan of all the body joints as well as a basic physical performed by a doctor. These physicals are offered in June, October and January.  If interested in a high school physical, your student should ask their coach when physicals will be offered and also look on the high school website for information posted. Appointments must be scheduled for school physicals. They are determined on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to 25 students. The sign-up sheet will be available in the Main Office. All proceeds from the physicals are applied toward the purchase of athletic training supplies.

5.       Read with your student all attached documents. Important information concerning Castro Valley High School policies, Hayward Area Athletic League (HAAL), and North Coast Section (NCS) rules are include in the packet.

6.       Athletic contributions will accepted during clearance processing period.

7.       Return both the completed Athletic Locator & Clearance form and the Physical form together to the Main Office. These forms SHOULD NOT be handed to a coach, left on a counter, or placed in any mailbox. A student is not cleared to tryout, practice or play, until a trained office technician inspects and approves each form. The coaches are not authorized to clear students. Once both the Athletic Locator & Clearance form and the Physical form are inspected and approved, the athlete is cleared to participate. A receipt will be given to the student athlete for their records.

CLEARANCE FORM DEADLINE:

August 5^th for Fall Sports,
November 1^st for Winter Sports and January 30^th for Spring Sports

Clearance forms turned in after this deadline may not get processed in time for team tryouts.
Physicals must be COMPLETED before processing, NO EXECPTIONS.
